HP3AK in Panama

(Also see my QRZ.COM listing.)  I moved to Panama in October of 2007 after having operated HP3/K1YJ from the Volcan area 3 times earlier in that year. I have always had good luck with operations here, with excellent propagation to most parts of the world.

I have now moved into my new house about 3 miles southeast of Volcan in the mountains of western Panama.  I am at 4,700 ft. (1,440 meters) above sea level and only about 30 miles from both the Carribbean and  the Pacific.  I have over 2.5 acres beyone the trees in the picture, adjoining my QTH, that I have for sale to the right "new neighbor". (See the For Sale tab above.)

The station currently consists of an Icom IC-756 Pro III, a Kenwood TS-590S amd 2 Kenwood TS-440S spare / remote radios. I use Collins 30L1 and Drake L-4B amps. My antennas are a 3 element beam for 6 meters, a 3 element 20 - 6 meter SteppIR, inverted Vs for 160, 80 & 40, and a 3 element wire phased array for 75m (pictured).  My tower is 65 ft. of Rohn 65G, with the top 48 ft. free-standing.  I also have repeaters on 439.00 and 1286.00 MHz., as well as a 100 watt remote HF base controlled via another 439 MHz repeater.  The "far end" support for the 3 full-wave 75 meter loops is the very old  tree in the picture. It is over 100 ft. (30 meters) tall.

I am retired and this is my 2nd home.  I am very active outside of ham radio so I do NOT normally make or keep schedules.  I operate SSB from 160 through 6 meters when conditions are good and the mood strikes... 73 from Panama.
